In addition to being a passionate student of the life sciences, I am also an enthusiastic, dedicated teacher of biology. In my higher education career so far, I have taught my students topics from general biology to advanced ecology along with applicable skills including statistical analysis, scientific writing, and programming in Python and R. I regularly go the extra mile for my students by creating original software tutorials, completing training in higher education, and bringing an effervescent positive attitude to every class session. My efforts have been recognized through earning the College of Science and Technology's award for Outstanding Teaching by a Graduate Student and being invited to lead workshops on active learning for my colleagues.
I started my higher education teaching career with two and a half years of tutoring general biology and genetics to her peers as an undergraduate in the Cornell Learning Strategies Center, and I expanded it as a teaching assistant at Temple University. I am always eager to continue improving my pedagogy to make my classroom a more inclusive, accessible place so that all students can master the life sciences. Outside of the college classroom, I also work professionally as a GRE Instructor and Tutor with Kaplan Test Prep, and I volunteer my time to outreach activities and science communication events in the area including the PAGES program for 6th grade girls interested in science, the Start Talking Science science communication event, and iPraxis' science fair project mentoring and judging program.
